Join Workhouse Arts Center’s vibrant community of working artists in studios open to the public. We have 80+ professional artists on our historic, 55-acre campus in Lorton, VA. Artists include studio artists (all disciplines), resident artists (Military, ceramics and glass), and Arches Gallery artists (artists who display their work on campus but have studio space elsewhere).
Workhouse offers several opportunities for artistic growth.
Once juried in, Studio Artists will have 24/7 access to studios and are required to work in their studios 70 hours a month minimum. Studio rental rates will vary based on square footage. Each studio building features a solo exhibition from a different building
artist in its main gallery every month. Workhouse also offers many art
classes (discounted for studio artists), other opportunities to exhibit in our main gallery, teaching opportunities to offset the cost of studio rental, and much more. Visitors are welcome on campus
Wednesdays through Sundays, and our special events draw tens of thousands to
campus each year.
The Workhouse Military in the Arts Initiative (WMAI) Studio Artist Residency is partially grant-funded. Open to any Military Veteran, Retired Veteran or Active Service Member who is interested in pursuing or perfecting their Studio Practice while working with the WMAI program. To learn more about the WMAI program please visit https://www.facebook.com/workhouseMAI or email the Program Director Debra Balestreri at email@example.com.
