The Marketing Manager for Frost School of Music develops and manages the day-to-day marketing activities of the school as well as long term creative marketing strategies, in cooperation with the Executive Director of Marketing & Communication. He/she identifies strengths and weaknesses in existing marketing campaigns and develops pragmatic solutions within budgetary constraints. Communicates with faculty and staff about marketing initiatives and project metrics, researches competition, as well as brainstorms and develops fresh strategies.

The Marketing Manager is an innovator and is a self-starter who will be immersed with everything Frost - talking to faculty, students, researching alumni, getting to know what makes the school unique and highly acclaimed, what role the school plays in the community, in the music industry, and in higher education. Is able to express what makes Frost different than other schools. It is key for the manager to gain first-hand knowledge of the school, in order to be able to develop and implement local, national, and international strategic marketing initiatives to increase the visibility of the Frost School of Music's innovative curricula, accomplishments of students and alumni, faculty accolades and events.


Digital Marketing, Social Media & Website SEO

  • Creates and implements social media strategies and posts. This includes writing, producing, and updating content on all Frost social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Vimeo, Snapchat, and LinkedIn.
  • Has solid experience and successes using Google ads, Google AdWords as well as other digital marketing including social media, retargeting etc.
  • Manages and plans geo-fencing for the school at strategic events/venues, and then provides analytics at the end with recommendations.
  • Understands what content is relevant to the different platforms. The goal is to create greater amount of relevant followers with increases in engagement, increased recruitment, increased brand awareness and more.
  • Understands how to reach and engage with key audiences that are not current followers.
  • Works closely with faculty and Frost senior management, especially the admissions department, individual program directors and Development to create successful marketing campaigns. •Researches and understands latest trends in digital marketing  
  • Writes elegant, yet relatable and fun social media posts that are relevant to the different audiences.
  • Reaches out and builds relationships with current students, alumni and faculty.
  • Measures marketing results against key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure that efforts have generated awareness, interest, and enrollment from prospective students.
  • Monitors information to assure that web sites are accurate, timely and in compliance with the needs and interests of various audiences seeking information about the school.
  • Recommends novel and creative growth strategies for recruitment.
  • Lead in the monitoring and responding in a timely fashion, to follower comments, direct email requests, and questions through all social media sites.
  • Handles special social media requests throughout outside entities such as partner organizations or alumni, for shout outs and announcements.
  • Coordinates Instagram take-overs for Frost alumni, students and faculty. •Understands, strategizes and executes web SEO/SEM.


Video Production for Social Media

  •  Assists Video Director with strategies, concepts, scheduling, and execution of FSOM produced videos for Frost social media and website.
  • Creates strategies for video content distribution on variety of external and internal channels in order to reach a greater audience of potential students, donors and alumni.
  • Identify trends and insights of other schools/entities

General Marketing: 

  • Researches, creates and implements FSOM ad buys (digital, print, broadcast) •Manages the advertising budget, PO and payments for FSOM advertising.

  • Manages advertising requests from other departments. Serves as the lead in material collection and coordinating the creation of artwork
  • Lead in updating school listings for admission from music publications
  • Assist in the production of marketing materials, signage and more.
  • Ensures Frost School of Music (FSOM) branding is consistent across all marketing mediums and initiatives with direction from the Executive Director of Marketing & Communications. This may include email signatures, stationary, concert templates, brochures, business cards, advertising, and more.
  • Create, identify and implement innovative, approaches to recruitment and brand awareness, for a variety of audiences including: potential students, parents, influencers, alumni, donors, concert-goers, and media. 
  • Create messaging to effectively target all audiences 
  • Use analytics in order to achieve our goals and measure ROI.
  • Facilitate collaboration among areas of marketing and the faculty to ensure best outcome and brand consistency
  • Proofreads marketing materials for clarity, style consistency, spelling and grammar.
  • Assists various departments such as Admissions, with new marketing initiatives such as signage, booths, flyers, stamp postcards, etc.
  • Main point person for these marketing requests mostly from departments, Stamps, Frost Online, admissions.


MARKETING RESEARCH:  

  • Researches competing schools with a focus on recruitment, promotion/marketing, social media, festivals/concerts for best marketing practices.
  • Identify trends and insights, and optimize spend and performance based on the insights.


PUBLICATIONS/NEWS/PR

  • Assists the Communications Specialist, as needed in the creation and execution of the alumni magazine SCORE. Duties could include hiring of writers, developing story ideas, researching alumni and faculty, coordination of printing and execution, editing, story selections, class notes, and more.
  • Writing of news stories and blurbs when assigned.
  • Once stories are created, makes sure that stories are distributed and posted on the correct channels. This includes website, social media and UM News. Works jointly with Communications Specialist to collect alumni information for highlights, #FrostBuilt


EVENT MARKETING SUPPORT  

  • Assists Event Marketing Specialist in developing clear marketing for FML Signature Series.
  • Assist in creation and concept of marketing materials for events such as brochures, branded items, latest trends, and vendor logistics when needed
  • Works with Sr. Events Planner and faculty when directed, for the promotion of corporate and non-FML events, and outside Frost events. These include Chopin Festival, Guitar Foundation, etc. •Acts as backup on social media for anything related to events.
  • Manages the research and creates strategies for ad buys purchases and coordinates of ad creatives for events.


This position reports to the Executive Director of Events & Communications.


Experience:

Seven (7) years of real industry experience required, music or academia industry preferred.


Skills & Abilities: 

  • Excellent writing, copy-writing and copy-editing skills
  • Substantial knowledge and experience in all aspects of social media and digital advertising
  • Experience in the development and execution of strategic advertising and marketing programs and campaigns (print, digital and broadcast)
  • Knowledgeable in analytics (results-oriented marketing)
  • Experienced in the research, buying and placement of advertising.
  • Knowledgeable in SEO/SEM (SemRush software a plus). 
  • Creative graphic design is a plus. •Additional experience of mass communication, preferred in order to leverage a multi-pronged approach to content delivery
  • Strong interpersonal skills, as well as excellent verbal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage an extreme amount of conflicting priorities at the same time; flexibility required to change scope or shift projects as necessary.
  • Strong understanding of marketing tactics, particularly social media and other online advertising
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Detail-oriented with high accuracy level, Ability to be Independent and self-motivated
  • Knowledge of video production preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, PowerPoint and Excel; strong computer, Internet and social media skills
  • Knowledgeable with Photoshop and InDesign software
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task extremely high volumes of work


Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Marketing or related field.
  • Music industry or academic experience preferred.
