The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is seeking an individual with a commitment to equity diversity and inclusion, exceptional financial and personal leadership skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, arts-based environment to join our finance department as Controller.
Located in the beautiful Rogue Valley of southern Oregon, the Tony Award-Winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival presents a season of eleven plays in rotating repertory across three theatres between the months of February and October. Additionally, OSF offers extensive educational opportunities to students, teachers, and theatregoers of all ages during our performance season.
The Controller is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the financial operations, accounting and reporting activities -- including payroll, budgeting, cash management and investments -- of the Festival and its separate but affiliated entity, Oregon Shakespeare Festival Endowment Fund. The Controller ensures the integrity and accuracy of financial data and reports, provides financial analysis and makes recommendations on policies and procedures. The position supervises accounting staff, and assists staff across the Festival with the monitoring of budgets and conducting good business practices. The Controller is also the principal liaison for audits and tax filings including annual financial statements and preparation of Forms 990 and 5500 and the related filings for Oregon.
Seven years of experience managing financial and accounting systems in organizations with at least $5M in annual revenues, and five years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role are required for consideration. The ideal candidate for this position will also have experienced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other current non-profit accounting standards, policies and procedures; Proficiency with Financial Edge, Tessitura, Microsoft Excel and the MS Office Suite; as well as technical knowledge of accounting systems, budgeting, and system reporting. This position requires the ability to work at a computer monitor for extended periods of time and frequent repetitive use of hands and wrists. This position is full-time, salaried with benefits. Salary will conform to the OSF Progressive Compensation Plan. Benefits include medical, dental and vision insurance, and a matching retirement program. Relocation assistance and temporary housing may be available. The successful candidate will be required to pass a background check.
