Duties & Responsibilities Under the leadership of Artistic Director Diane Paulus and Executive Director Diane Quinn, the American Repertory Theater aims to expand the boundaries of theater and engage thousands of theatergoers at more than 300 performances and events each season. The A.R.T. is also dedicated to providing high-quality arts education and community programming in the Greater Boston area. As the A.R.T.'s education and community programs expand, the theater is looking to augment its education and community programs staff with a fellow position.
The Marketing and Communications department is responsible for building the organizational brand and implementing sales strategies that result in more than $5MM in annual ticket revenue. Reporting to the Education and Community Programs Manager, the Education and Community Programs Fellow is a core member of the team and a key stakeholder in supporting the department strategies and solutions surrounding artistic, community, and education programs. This position will assist the Education and Community Programs Manager in the development and administration of enrichment activities (both on- and off-site), student and community group visits to the A.R.T., and partnerships with local nonprofit organizations and schools. The Education and Community Programs Fellow will also work closely with the Marketing and Artistic Departments to facilitate audience engagement and assessment strategies throughout the season.
Day-to-day duties will include:
Administration of A.R.T. Education and Community Connections partnerships with local K-12 schools and nonprofit organizations in the Greater Boston Area; includes managing partner database, serving as primary contact at the theater for local educators, managing group visits to the theater by partner organizations, composing bi-monthly newsletters, researching new partnerships, and occasionally traveling to schools and/or partner organizations for on-site programing and meetings.
Assisting in the development of show-specific curriculum programs, including:
A.R.T. Toolkit development and distribution; includes curriculum development linking A.R.T. productions to broader educational outcomes, facilitating the creation of a magazine-style study guide for teachers and students.
A.R.T. Lobby Experiences; includes facilitating on-site audience engagement experiences, working with production dramaturgs to compile research, and executing community-integrated activities, art installations, and galleries.
Basic Qualifications Candidate MUST meet the following basic qualifications in order to be considered for this role.
Bachelor's degree, with a strong background in the arts and/or community engagement in a nonprofit organization.
