United States Artists (USA) is currently seeking a full-time Program Manager who will oversee the administration and management of our fellowship program, as well as advise on all related initiatives such as our Alumni Council and Assembly. This is a full-time position that will report directly to our President & CEO and manage a Program Assistant and Intern, as well as work collaboratively with our Development, Communications, and Finance staff.
USA is a national arts funding nonprofit organization based in Chicago, IL. Each year, USA awards up to fifty $50,000 fellowships to the country's most accomplished and innovative artists working in the fields of Architecture & Design, Crafts, Dance, Literature, Media, Music, Theater & Performance, Traditional Arts, and Visual Arts.
USA Fellows spotlight the importance of artists across the country, celebrating the broad diversity of American artistic practices and cultivating a creative ecology that is diverse in age, race, religion, gender, and sexual orientation. Fellows are selected through a rigorous, highly competitive process involving hundreds of experts, scholars, administrators, and artists. Since our founding in 2006, USA has awarded 488 artists with nearly $25 million in support.
Oversees administration of fellowship program cycle from beginning to end, including identifying nominators, managing artist applications, coordinating selection panels, as well as finalizing and announcing annual USA Fellows;
Supports artists throughout the fellowship application process including answering all inquiries and providing application feedback as needed;
Manages program budget and schedule while regularly reviewing and evaluating the program with USA staff and occasional contractors;
Manages Program Assistant who will oversee and maintain databases, surveys, and evaluation tools for all Fellow Alumni including tracking and updating contact information, noting artist achievements, biographies, and web presence;
Supports all aspects of USA's alumni relations including the Artists Assembly, Alumni advisory council, artist residencies, and other partnerships;
Supports Finance Director in maintaining and organizing financial contracts and IRS forms;
Represents USA's mission, vision, values, and goals in person, online, and in print;
Travels to necessary and relevant conferences, symposiums, and convenings;
Takes on additional duties as required
Meticulous organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage budgets, and keep timely correspondence;

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, including the means to address issues in non-confrontational ways, but nevertheless with determination; a track record as an effective communicator; the presence and credibility to serve as an effective spokesperson for USA;
A "doer" with a willingness to work hands-on in developing and executing a variety of activities ranging from the internal day-to-day to the highly creative; an energetic, alert, hardworking person able to take immediate action when necessary;
Demonstrates maturity, curiosity, and a sense of humor; is at ease with collaborating both internally with staff and externally with public entities, and can connect with artists and partners alike;
Ability to work effectively with an incredibly diverse community
At least three to five years full-time work experience in arts administration
Knowledge of one or more artistic disciplines with a passion for learning about all fields
Experience working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Experience with Microsoft office software, database programs and social media platforms
Experience and knowledge of commonly used photo, video, and sound editing software
Bachelor's degree in a related field
COMMITTMENT & COMPENSATION:
This position is full-time and maintains 40 hours per week (Monday - Friday); salary is competitive and commensurate with experience; excellent employee benefit package including health, life, disability, vision and dental insurance per company policy; eligibility for other benefits including 403(b), holiday, sick, and vacation will take place per company policy.
