Located in Downtown Springdale, Arts Center of the Ozarks has been providing and making arts for the last 50 years. We’ve introduced thousands of people to live performance. This non-profit arts organization offers a diverse range of programming, a home to artists and arts organizations to showcase their work, and engages people of every age and background to create a vibrant and cohesive community.
The Arts Center of the Ozarks is seeking an experienced, effective, and creative leader for the position of Executive Director. This Position will build on the existing work to date and continue to move the organization forward in the areas of fund development, communications, and operations. The position reports to the Board of Directors and will work collaboratively with the Board to fulfill the mission.
1) Board Governance: Works collaboratively with the board to fulfill the organization mission: “Building Community – socially, economically, and culturally – by engaging people in the arts” and looks at long term strategy for growth.
Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed policy-level decisions.
2) Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
Responsible for Diversified Fund Development – Planning, budgeting, implementation of development activities including major donor cultivation and stewardship, an extensive grant portfolio, fundraising events, corporate sponsorship, grassroots fundraising, annual appeals, and earned income.
Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
3) Programming and Communication:
Responsible for setting the programmatic framework that carries the mission forward.
Responsible for Communications – Generating a comprehensive annual external communications plan that engages the local community and elevates ACO’s regional and local presence by being active and visible in the community and by working with other organizations; as well as overseeing the plan’s implementation.
Responsible for implementation of Arts Center of the Ozarks’ programs that carry out the organization’s mission.
Serves as the primary organizational spokesperson.
4) Organization Operations. Guides and oversees all organizational operations.
Responsible for overseeing all organizational operations and systems, including facilities management, HR management, operations meetings, box office systems, and IT. Position will work closely with the Finance Committee to draft the operational budget.
Responsible for building a staff to support the direction as the organization grows.
Candidates from both within and outside the arts and culture sector are encouraged to submit their credentials. Candidates must demonstrate their ability to effectively raise funds for, and manage, an organization with plans to grow over the next 5 years. In addition, candidates should show their leadership capacity for an organization led by a board and staff representing the multi-cultural audiences to be reached by having a collaborative mindset.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, experiences and attributes:
Passion for Art Center of the Ozarks’ mission and an entrepreneurial spirit that will help fulfill it. Proven record of securing successful five-figure donor gifts and multi-year major grants through thoughtful planning, cultivation and stewardship. Strong management acumen in supervision, budgeting, financial planning and business planning. Excellent portfolio of written communications, oral presentations and marketing approaches. Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills; the ability to successfully lead and work with a diverse staff, board and body of partners. Meticulous attention to detail and consistent dependability, as well as the ability to work in a highly flexible, collaborative work environment. Preferred Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree At least five years as a senior staff director, development officer, or equivalent experience with individual and institutional fundraising at ACO’s scale. Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation. Strong written and public speaking skills with the ability convey a vision of the Arts Center of the Ozarks’ strategic future to staff, board, volunteers, and donors Fluent in spoken Spanish is a plus
