The Center for Community Arts Program Manager is an employee of the City of Walnut Creek’s Arts and Recreation Department and works at the Shadelands Arts Center. This highly visible position is responsible for understanding and articulating the positive impacts of arts and culture in and for the City and for ensuring the delivery of arts education classes and programs throughout the City.
Center for Community Arts’ mission is to inspire creativity and community through the arts. As part of the Arts and Recreation Department, the Center for Community Arts (formerly Civic Arts Education) serves the entire Diablo region and celebrated 50 years in our community in 2014. This important milestone highlighted the immense reach that the Center for Community Arts has on generations of area residents and the rich history of providing arts education to better the lives our students. More than 10,000 adults and young people from Walnut Creek and beyond make art with the program each year.
As a member of the Department’s Leadership Team, the Program Manager reports to the Arts and Recreation Department Director and works productively and effectively with employees, elected and appointed officials, community groups and the public to create top quality arts education programs.
The City is seeking a dynamic leader in the arts education field who can effectively engage with the community, will be at the forefront of current and future arts education trends, and can plan and implement the highest quality arts education programs and services consistent with the Center for Community Arts’ strategic plan currently in place. This position is responsible for organizing and directing the City of Walnut Creek’s arts education programs and the City’s three preschools. The Arts Education Program Manager develops, implements and oversees state of the art curricula and programs, outreach programs, and regional collaborations with arts and non-arts organizations. The ideal candidate understands strategic planning and how to effectively promote the benefits of arts education.
